Our Perspective

At FNEF, we believe:

• Communities should control their own language resources.
• Technology should serve communities, not the other way around.
• Language revitalization requires both preservation and active use.
• Strong language infrastructure creates future opportunities.
• Indigenous Data Sovereignty matters.
• Every recording, story, lesson, and language resource has value.
• Language revitalization is ultimately about future generations.

The Language Cloud Knowledge Centre was created in support of those principles. We hope it contributes in some small way to the important work being carried out by Indigenous communities across Canada and beyond.
