Technology can help organize information. Technology can improve access. Technology can increase efficiency. But language itself remains fundamentally human. Languages are learned through:

• Teachers
• Community participation
• Cultural experiences

Software cannot replace these things. Technology should strengthen relationships rather than compete with them. For example: A recording platform may preserve an Elder’s voice. But it is the relationship with that Elder that made the recording possible. A language database may organize vocabulary. But it is the speakers who provide the knowledge.
